An inquest has found that there were gross failings in the mental health care of a Bishop Sutton woman who took her own life.
Fifty-six year old Julie Carter-Montacute drowned at Chew Valley Lake in February after repeatedly seeking help for her deteriorating mental health. Avon Coroner highlighted nine failures by mental health services which preceded Mrs Carter-Montacute’s suicide. Presiding coroner Dr Peter Harrowing said “these failures amounted overall to a gross failure by the mental health services to deliver basic, primary care to Mrs Montacute.”
