Bristol Live: Mental health services crisis line is ‘potentially unsafe’, say family of woman found dead in lake

There are just two people manning the only helpline available overnight to people suffering with deteriorating mental health, one of which is not a registered nurse.

The helplines, of which there is one in each of the six areas covered by Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership, are run by the service’s Intensive Teams between 10pm and 7am every night.

Issues surrounding how it operates during these hours have been raised in a recent coroner’s inquest into the death of Julie Montecute. A 56-year-old from south Bristol who was found dead in Chew Valley Lake after asking the AWP almost every single day for help.
